How do I look after my stained glass piece?

Your pieces should be displayed indoors only.

To clean your piece, wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. Do not use any cleaners or abrasive materials as these can react with or scratch the patina and solder.

If you wish, you can wax your piece once a year using Mother’s Carnauba car wax to restore its polished look. Simply apply it, wait 15-30 minutes for it to dry and then buff it off with a clean dry cloth and a soft toothbrush to get into all the crevices.

Over time you may see some white areas appear around the solder joins of your piece which is just left over wax or oxidation. This can be removed by buffing with a soft toothbrush.

How can I hang my piece?

For the most secure hanging, use nails, screws or hooks directly into your window frame or wall. You can also get hooks that hang on your curtain rail.

Command hooks can work well providing you follow the instructions carefully and abide by their weight limit. Please be wary of using suction cups as they can be unreliable.

Lead

Lead is used in the solder that joins the glass pieces together and around the edges to frame the piece. Please wash your hands thoroughly after handling and keep away from children and pets. Stained glass is for decoration only and is not a toy. Lead is most harmful when consumed, it cannot be absorbed through your skin - so just don’t lick your pieces please!
